Getting a Slant on Diagonal Markets

by

John Adam Chair of the CI plus LLP explained the history of the development of the CI+ system. This is essentially a plug-in unit that can be used with ‘open market’ or ‘horizontal market’ DVB receivers to allow them to receive Pay-tv services which have hitherto been a ‘vertical market’. It is the combination of horizontal market products with a vertical market add on that leads to the term ‘diagonal markets’. There are lots of advantages in this approach for set markets, which allow them to enlarge their market into the Pay TV world. In future, the DVB Project will be responsible for the CIplus specifications. Good idea?
